Restorative Yoga

Do you feel stressed out, wired , in need of some TLC? We can all feel stressed at times but its when it becomes the norm that it becomes a problem.  Our Sympathetic Nervous System becomes over stimulated and our breathing may become poor.  Our adrenals  become overloaded, blood pressure rises, sleep quality falls. We generally don’t function in a way that’s healthy and eventually we become physically, emotionally and mentally unwell. We have felt this way for so long that most of us don’t realise that we have lost this connection with ourselves, this connection of peace and stillness that always resides in us.  Restorative yoga allows us to reconnect with this space.

Restorative Yoga focuses on relaxing the body in restful postures. It is known as the yoga of deep relaxation.

I will guide you through a sequence of postures in which your body is completely relaxed and supported with props such as bolsters, pillows and blankets. This allows your muscles to totally relax which creates a deep sense of peace and calm.

You will be relaxing in each supported position for about 3 – 5 minutes. Holding these relaxed poses has a very rejuvenating effect on various organs and glands in the body. I will explain these benefits to you in more detail, as well as how certain poses can help in the healing process of many health conditions.  You will also have the opportunity to explore your breath in these poses and gain a deeper understanding of  just how your breath correlates to your mental emotional and physical health.

The space will be candle lit, warm and nurturing . The intention behind each session is to support you to move into a deeply relaxed state, physically emotionally and mentally.

The class will finish with a guided relaxation called  ‘Yoga Nidra’.

After our practice we can catch up with each other and drink some of my homemade chai or other teas, and enjoy some yummy healthy snacks

The room will be warm & cosy

“Restorative Yoga encourages us to linger longer in poses and savour the sweetness of our practice. Often referred to as ‘active relaxation’, the practice of restorative yoga facilitates deep relaxation which restores and renews” Sally belmont
